One of the greatest advantages of international conferences is the experience exchanged between participants from various countries.
Monika Vítová shares her experience: “In his presentation, a colleague from Great Britain mentioned the change in translation rates in the last ten years. On average, the increase was only 3.5%. Yet in other fields, the prices have grown by approximately 20% within the same period. After considering inflation, he came to the conclusion that translations depreciate, and their economic profitability is lower. Still, companies manage to maintain their rate of profit at the same level compared to ten years ago. This is only possible thanks to constant turnover increase (i.e. work productivity increase) and offering of additional services.”
She says that this is greatly helped by the use of new technologies, which allow processing of larger number of translations in shorter time while saving the costs. The conclusions of Krakow conference, the first year of which was attended by about 40 experts from 15 world countries, are as follows: If translation agencies want to be successful in the future, they should implement new technologies and widen the portfolio of their services.
