Berlin Conference: the future of corporate communication is on Facebook

Berlin/Prague, July, 9th 2010 – ‘Know-how for Global Success’ was this year’s topic of the Localization World Conference organised  in Berlin this June. The CEET Company also participated.

One of the most interesting subjects among more than forty presentations was for example the Social networks and their use in localisation industry – practical use of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and other social media.  ”It was more or less a discussion on the subject of social media as a new communication channel that is constantly evolving and growing.  The fact that social media are nowadays displacing classical forms of communication, in very much the same way computers pushed aside typewriters earlier, was debated there. They bring possibilities, yet most of us are still not familiar with them or do not use them“ says Ms. Monika Vítová from the CEET Company. The specific discussion concluded that social media are not used solely for personal communication, but are increasingly more applied as a tool of corporate communication. “In this way, companies are highlighting their brand, their services; creating professional links, including possibilities of sharing experiences with others.  It is therefore good to follow professionally orientated discussions and actively participate in them, because it is a great way of keeping up-to-date about what is happening in the translation industry,“ says the Director of the CEET Company, Mr. David Matuška.

Participants were also interested in Renato Beninatto’s presentation called 52 languages, 500 million customers: Europe as an opportunity for language services providers.  “Europe as a whole is the world’s greatest economical power. The European translating market is bigger than the North American market. Unfortunately though, language services providers tend to focus rather on various restrictions and on the market competition than on the opportunities that the European continent offers,“ explains David Matuška. The European Language Industry Association (ELIA), which CEET is a member of and under whose patronage the conference was held, believes that the current period is favourable for the translating industry in Europe and has created the best possible conditions in the world for the language services providers.

CEET together with ELIA also participated in the joint stall presentation and in the preparation of tasting culinary specialities of the Association’s member states. Visitors could thus explore gourmet food of the host country – Germany, but also Czech, Polish, Bulgarian, Rumanian, Hungarian, Spanish, Italian, Slovenian, Belgian, French, Lithuanian, Turkish, and Croatian food specialities.
