Translating is both my profession and hobby. After my university years, I worked as the Director General of a big language agency, Skřivánek. In 2005, I decided to establish my own company – CEET Ltd. I believe translation work has a huge development potential. I want to do more than just watch the trends; I want to participate in their development. Modern technology brings faster and cheaper translations – while maintaining 100% quality. CEET is participating in the development of a new machine translator, Euromatrix. This will give Google significant competition.

What can I say about myself?

My family is most important to me. I spend my free time with my children (Ondřej 8, Barbora 12, and Marie 15). We live in Býčkovice near Litoměřice, and are working there on the renovation of our family house, which is located in the place of a former Johannite monastery. I like good wine, travelling, golf, cycling, and basketball. I have also become a basketball coach for young children.

In my university years, I focused on German Studies and History; I gained a lot of experience in the spheres of language teaching to children and methodology from the German environment. I consider my work at the Technical University in Dortmund a breakthrough. In the Czech Republic, I founded a network of local language agencies, which, in 2005, we transformed into CEET. My specialisation in translation work and language education probably originates in my family roots, which spread to Italy, Bosnia-Herzegovina; through Holland and Russia to Argentina.

Co na sebe prozradím?

I do not see the world as individual nations and their differences, but as a multi-coloured complex, the cultural differences of which may bring us advancement and enrichment. Aside from the business activities in the sphere of language education of children, I am highly interested in the issues of children’s rights – not just their rights to education, but also to worthwhile lives that fulfil their basic needs. I am therefore also involved in the OMEP Association. In my free time, I like doing sports, playing squash, cycling, and skating. My pride and joy is my own wine cellar.

My professional goal is a dynamic development of technologies, as well as progressive investment into the sphere of Human Resources. The advantages of new translation and education technologies, and the use of top experts, are greatly efficient for you, our clients. I consider CEET’s participation in the financing of the development of the new product in the sphere of machine translators - Euromatrix - crucial. However, language education and monitoring and consequent financing of all progressive new products in the spheres of interactive teaching of both children and adults are also very important.

What can I say about myself?

Due to my demanding work, which takes me to various places around the world, I prefer relaxing doing seemingly common, simple things. I am most happy spending time with my two young children, in the swimming pool, and cross-country skiing.
